In California, the Area Agency and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) is a statewide initiative and a "No Wrong Door" system that connects older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers to local long-term services and supports (LTSS). This is coordinated by the California Department of Aging (CDA), local ACRCs are partnership between Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and Independent Living Centers (ILCs), providing enhanced information, person-centered options counseling, and support for navigating complex long-term care options. The Imperial County Aging & Disability Resource Center opened its doors in 2022 through a collaborative partnership between Access to Independence and the Imperial County Public Administrator’s Office/ Area Agency on Aging. Together, we offer a centralized hub of support for older adults and people with disabilities. The ADRC provides 4 core services:
Transition & Diversion – helps individuals transition from institutional settings into independent living through advocacy, planning and support.
Options Counseling – our benefits specialists guide individuals through available programs and services, assist with paperwork, and empower informed decision-making.
Service Coordination – case managers assess each person’s physical, social, and emotional needs to develop personalized action plans for independence.
Information & Assistance – Our trained staff connect consumers to vital resources, from transportation and housing to healthcare and adaptive supports. This ensures individuals can age and live with dignity in the community.
