About California Senior Legislature

The California Senior Legislature is a volunteer body whose primary mission is to gather ideas for legislation at the state and federal levels, craft the ideas into formal proposals, prioritize the proposals, present them to members of the Legislature or the Congress, and advocate for laws implementing the ideas.

Senior Rally Day occurs each year in May to coincide with Older Americans Month.  It is designed to raise awareness among legislators and the Governor about senior issues during the time period when the May revision of the Governor’s annual budget is being finalized. A coordinated advocacy program is conducted during the event. Seniors attending the event visit with their legislators to make them aware of the need to provide funding for senior programs.
