Our Vision

To avoid or reduce premature institutionalization of the frail elderly by the development and provision of a community based system of long-term care

To provide leadership at the local level in developing systems of home and community-based services that maintain "least restrictive" home-like environments. In particular, emphasis shall be placed on coordinating with local systems to enable individuals to live with maximum independence and dignity in their homes and communities through the development of comprehensive and coordinated systems of home and community care.

Area Plan Overview

Area Plan Update:

Each Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is responsible for developing an Area Plan, with annual update plans, for submission to the California Department of Aging (CDA). Area Agency on Aging, Imperial County, is currently in the process of updating the annual Area Plan for Planning and Service Area 24 (PSA24). PSA24 covers Imperial County. The Area Plan describes the specific services that will be provided to the older population of PSA24 and covers the planning period 2014-2015. The plan also contains the goals and objectives that the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) and its staff and volunteers plan to accomplish during the planning period. The plan is due to CDA by May 1, 2014.

As part of the plan update, AAA conducted a needs assessment and a series of public hearings to solicit comments and input from elders, caregivers, and service providers in PSA24. At each public hearing, AAA provides a presentation detailing the various programs and services that will be provided to elders and their caregivers in PSA24. A copy of the needs assessment, draft Area Plan Update, and presentation are available on our website for your review.
